On behalf of the Board, musicians and staff of Queens Symphony Orchestra, Heidi
and I wish you and yours a wonderful and safe holiday season.
QSO has been an integral part of our community for over 57 years. However, we can only continue to provide you with the great music you have enjoyed and the educational services to our community’s children with your help. In this difficult economic environment, your support is essential. Thus, in order to help us continue to serve you, as you consider your year-end 2009 giving, please consider donating to QSO – and urging your friends and neighbors to do likewise. Your investment in us will result in positive returns to you and our community. THANK YOU!
Constantine Kitsopoulos, Music Director
Being the Music Director of the QSO has been a rewarding and fulfilling experience for me both personally and professionally. It's been a pleasure to get to know so many of you and I look forward to getting to know more of our subscribers and donors in the coming years. It's been said that the arts act as a society's conscience. I believe that idea to be especially true today. I hope that this year you'll consider increasing your donation as we work to find new ways to broaden access to orchestral music in Queens. If you've not donated before, I hope you'll consider becoming a new member of the QSO family. Thanks and Happy Holidays!
Rick Dolan, Principal Second Violin
Having been a member of Queens Symphony Orchestra since 1980, I have seen and experienced many wonderful programs engaging the world’s greatest artists. One of the most endearing qualities of this orchestra has been its involvement with the community of Queens, creating a good working relationship with the people of this borough. The education programs that go to the schools and the performance competitions that offer local young artists opportunities are just a couple of the endeavors with which I have been involved.
In the past 30 years I have seen the orchestra adapt to the ever changing cultural environment which accounts for its ability to survive in this very challenging era. I am proud and honored to be a member of this orchestra.
Rick Dolan was a member of Philharmonia Virtuosi for 25 years. His career also extends to Broadway, starting in 1980 with the revival of West Side Story. Most recently, Dolan was the concertmaster of both Mel Brooks Broadway productions: The Producers and Young Frankenstein.
