SUMMARY:The Romantic Heart
DESCRIPTION:Wagner wrote the piece for his wife’s birthday. Cosima woke up in the morning to the sounds of this music being played under her bedroom window. The ultimate romantic gift! With Mendelssohn\, we will visit the Romantic era before Romanticism got dense with mystical and philosophical connotations. The early Romantic music was more like a Classical music sprinkled with the pixie dust. \nBeethoven was the man who crossed the bridge from Classical to Romantic era. Although Symphony No. 4 contains fewer Romantic elements than No. 3 or No. 5\, it is a great example of the transition from one style to another. It is also Beethoven at his wittiest! \nFeaturing: Ania Filochowska\, violin (2012 QSO Young Artist competition winner) \nWe looking forward to seeing you there! \n

SUMMARY:Family Concert: Heroes’ Adventures
DESCRIPTION:Three heroes\, three different journeys. Candide is travelling the world\, learning bitter lessons about life through the series of increasingly bizarre adventures until he starts seeing the world as it truly is. Leonore\, disguised as a man\, undertakes a perilous journey to save her husband from an impending death. For good measure\, she helps to overthrow a tyrant. Háry János is a veteran of the Napoleonic Wars. Back in his native Hungarian village\, he spins fantastical stories that take him from the battlefields of Russia to the arms of the Empress of Austria. \nWorks Featured : Bernstein: Candide: Overture\, Beethoven: Leonore Overture No. 3\, and  Kodály: Háry János Suite \nWe look forward to seeing you there! \n  \n

SUMMARY:Masterworks Concert: Wrestling with Destiny
DESCRIPTION:Sometimes you fight against the odds and change the story of your life. Other times\, fate cannot be escaped. Contemplating the unforeseen forces of the universe\, three composers on the program offer their unique answers. Each work starts with a powerful “fate” motive that governs the narrative\, shaping and bending the music to its will. \n \nWorks include : Verdi: Overture to La Forza Del Destino; Liszt: Piano Concerto No. 1 in E-flat Major\, S.124\, featuring Jeffrey Biegel\, piano; and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5 \n
