The Romantic Heart
March 30, 2019 at 7:30 pm
FREE ADMISSIONWagner wrote the piece for his wife’s birthday. Cosima woke up in the morning to the sounds of this music being played under her bedroom window. The ultimate romantic gift! With Mendelssohn, we will visit the Romantic era before Romanticism got dense with mystical and philosophical connotations. The early Romantic music was more like a Classical music sprinkled with the pixie dust.
Beethoven was the man who crossed the bridge from Classical to Romantic era. Although Symphony No. 4 contains fewer Romantic elements than No. 3 or No. 5, it is a great example of the transition from one style to another. It is also Beethoven at his wittiest!
Featuring: Ania Filochowska, violin (2012 QSO Young Artist competition winner)
We looking forward to seeing you there!
